Solid Teak Hand Carved "Thai Cat" Sculpture 1950s

This is a large and heavy solid teak wood hand-carved siamese cat 1950s. The piece is known as "Thai Cat" and was sold by the Smithsonian Institute as part of their Thai ethnological collection. The cat features a secret jewelry compartment on the underside of the wood figure. This piece is carved from one piece of wood. There are lines decorating the feline over its body and tail.
This pieces is in excellent condition.
